Airport OfficeOur mission at Payson Municipal Airport is to be, "Arizona's friendliest small-town airport," and present a great first impression of the Town, Rim Country, and its people to tourists and business visitors by developing a showpiece gateway.

A major economic driver for Rim Country, Payson Municipal Airport, or KPAN, is one of 46 general aviation airports in Arizona and is located in Payson, the heart of Arizona, just below the Mogollon Rim. Midway between Pheonix and Flagstaff, the Town of Payson is bordered on three sides by the 2.9 million-acre Tonto National Forest, home of the largest stand of Ponderosa pines in the world and is the only public use airport within 40 nautical miles.

At an elevation of 5,157 feet and surrounded by rolling hills and mountain vistas, KPAN enjoys a mild mediterranean climate with an average of 21 inches of precipitation annually. KPAN provides both automated weather observation system (AWOS) and continuous power medium intensity runway lights that are operated by pilot-controlled aircraft radio. The asphalt-paved runway is 5,504 feet long and 75 feet wide. The airport is designed to accommodate piston engine, turbo prop and small business jet aircraft and currently hosts 66 based aircraft on the airport property, in the Matazal Airpark and SkyPark Industrial hangars. Additionally, KPAN offers a 50' x 50' concrete helipad just East of the Delta Ramp.

Located at the West end of the airport, MPG East, Inc. offers 24-7, self-serve 100LL and Jet A fuels and on the Delta Ramp, Against the Wind provides on-airport aircraft inspection, maintenance and repair. Crosswinds Restaurant, offering American diner fare, is accessible from Delta Ramp tie downs and KPAN hosts a beautifully located fly-in campground nestled between Alpha and Bravo Ramps which can be easily reserved through the airport Operations Office at 928-472-4748.

Payson Municipal Airport strives to be responsive to the ever-changing needs of the air transportation industry with emphasis placed on providing airfield improvements, aircraft services, and storage facilities to better support airport users.
